School Nurse - LPN

Licensed Practical Nurse

The person in this role will be responsible to create a climate of health and well-being within the school environment. He/she will also function as a child advocate in areas of health and safety. Essential functions may include coordinating the health program within the assigned school, supervising and administering health screenings, auditing health records for immunization status, serving as a health resource person, providing emergency health care, maintaining health records, complying with school, district, and state laws, functioning as a key member of the team involved in educational referrals, and performing other duties as assigned or required. Knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, policies and procedures, skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations, and skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications are required. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a current LPN license, at least two years' verifiable work experience, preferably as an LPN or Respiratory Therapist, and the ability to read, write, and speak in English. Other requirements include possession or obtaining an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, passing a background clearance check, obtaining and maintaining an Arizona driver's license, and the ability to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds, and lift students weighing up to 60 pounds. May be required to travel to perform work functions.
