Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

This position requires a 12-hour day shift from 07:00 AM to 07:30 PM. Must be available to work weekends.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position is Per Diem for a duration of 26 weeks, with no guaranteed hours. The RN provides direct patient care within the scope of practice and directs patient/family teaching alongside other nursing personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care utilizing nursing assessment and evaluation processes.
• Communicate effectively with physicians regarding changes in patient conditions.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with regulations.
• Respond accurately to changes in patient conditions and/or treatment responses.
• Guide activities of other nursing personnel and provide patient/family education.
• Ensure adherence to EMTALA regulations and report any child/adult abuse appropriately.
• Float to other units as necessary based on competencies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification from AHA or Red Cross.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in an ER setting.
• Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate.
• COVID vaccination preferred.
• Experience with Meditech EMR is an asset.
