Pay Rate: $24.00/hour (Paid Weekly)
Health & Welfare Benefit: Additional $5.09/hour (Service Contract Act-compliant, Wage Determination 2015-4553)

Locations:

• Orlando VA Medical Center – Lake Nona, Orlando, FL (4 openings)
• Lake Baldwin VA Clinic – Orlando, FL (1 opening)

 

Schedule:

• Full-Time
• Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• 40 hours per week (2,080 hours annually)
• No overtime expected
• Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday coverage may be required with at least two weeks' notice

 

Contract Duration:
Long-term government contract consisting of a base year with four option years.

 

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Dental Assistants to provide chairside clinical support to General Dentists at Veterans Affairs (VA) dental clinics in Orlando, Florida. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality dental care to our nation's Veterans by assisting with a wide variety of general and specialty dental procedures while ensuring a safe, efficient, and patient-focused clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide four-handed chairside assistance during general and specialty dental procedures
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before and after patient care
• Assist with oral surgery, periodontal therapy, endodontic procedures, prosthodontics, and dental implant placement/restoration
• Expose and process dental radiographs in accordance with safety standards
• Maintain proper infection control and sterilization procedures
• Prepare patients for treatment and provide patient education as directed by the dentist
• Accurately document patient information and treatment provided
• Maintain dental equipment, instruments, and supplies
• Ensure compliance with VA policies, OSHA standards, and infection control protocols
• Support efficient daily clinic operations while providing exceptional patient care

 

Qualifications

Required

• Successful completion of a one-year Dental Assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
• Minimum one (1) year of Dental Assistant experience
• Current Dental Radiology Certificate
• Current BLS and/or CPR Certification
• Experience with four-handed dentistry
• Ability to assist with specialty dental procedures, including:
• • Oral Surgery
  • Periodontal Therapy
  • Endodontics
  • Prosthodontics
  • Dental Implant Placement and Restoration
• Ability to successfully complete VA credentialing and background screening
• Must have a clear OIG exclusion status
• Fluent in written and spoken English

 

Work Environment

This position is based onsite at the Orlando VA Medical Center (Lake Nona) OR Lake Baldwin VA Clinic , providing comprehensive dental services to Veterans. Candidates should be comfortable working in a collaborative clinical environment while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, patient care, and regulatory compliance.
