Mandel JCC website: This Role This Facility Manager directly contributes to the Mandel Jewish Community Center’s success by keeping its facilities and grounds safe, attractive, and ready to serve the community every day. Essential Functions Performs routine daily operational checks, preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems and devices; pool and whirlpool equipment. Individually performs and/or assigns a variety of carpentry and mechanical repairs to staff related to the facility and equipment. Monitors work of staff to ensure it is performed correctly. Performs and assigns tasks to the maintenance staff as requested through work order system. Generates work orders for assignment to the maintenance staff. Assists in the hiring, discharge, evaluation and discipline of maintenance staff. Oversees room set up requests system. Coordinates and performs seasonal start up and shut down preparations. Maintains maintenance and custodial supplies inventory. Identifies complex repair needs and make recommendations to the Director of Facilities. Works with and monitor outside vendors and contractors providing supplies and service to the facility. Insures acceptable standards of performance by same. Demonstrates excellent customer service to all members and staff. Provides good communication to maintenance and management staff. Completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities. Additional Responsibilities Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises facilities staff Qualifications Two or more years documented experience in the areas of commercial or industrial HVAC, electrical or plumbing. Two or more years of experience supervising commercial or industrial maintenance staff. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical manuals. CPO required or be obtained within 90 days of hire. Physical ability to perform maintenance functions such as lifting up to 80 pounds, climbing ladders and stairs; standing, crouching and bending for extended periods of time while performing maintenance duties. Must be able to tolerate temperature and humidity extremes. Completion of technical training in areas such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing would be considered desirable. Physical Demands Visual acuity and accuracy. Ability to move throughout the building. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to view a computer screen and perform above functions on a computer. Ability to sit for up to eight hours per day. Work Environment Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and its premises. Moves intermittently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances. Communicates with the staff, personnel, and other department supervisors. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
