Job Description
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides essential assistance and care for adults with developmental disabilities, elderly individuals, and those with mental health conditions. Working primarily in community-based settings and in-home care environments, the DSP supports clients in daily living activities, personal care, and behavioral needs, ensuring their safety and well-being. This role requires compassion, effective communication, and a commitment to enhancing clients' quality of life through attentive and respectful support. The position involves local community travel and offers immediate start with ongoing professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities and personal care
- Provide behavioral support tailored to individual client needs
- Monitor client safety in community and home settings
- Maintain clear and effective communication with clients and teams
- Document observations and report changes in client status
- Support clients in participating in community activities and appointments
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience in direct support or caregiving roles
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Direct Support (DSP)
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Strong communication skills
- Observation and reporting abilities
- Empathy and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
