Counter Staff
Location: Parkville, Maryland (Conrad's Seafood Market) Day time availability during the Fall is REQUIRED
Compensation Range: $12.75 - $15.00+Tips
Employers in MD can pay employees under the age of 18 a minimum wage rate of 85% of the state minimum wage.
Overview: As a counter staff member at our seafood market, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring the efficient operation of our retail counter. You will be responsible for assisting customers, preparing orders, maintaining cleanliness, and upholding food safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting seafood products.
- Provide information about different types of seafood, their origin, and preparation methods.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Weigh, package, and label seafood products accurately according to customer requests.
- Prepare seafood products for display, ensuring quality and freshness.
- Handle special orders and ensure they are fulfilled accurately and timely.
- Ensure all seafood products are handled and stored properly to maintain freshness and meet food safety standards.
- Keep the counter area clean, organized, and stocked throughout the day.
- Follow proper sanitation procedures for equipment and work surfaces.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the seafood market.
- Assist in receiving and storing incoming shipments of seafood products.
- Work together to achieve sales targets and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Stay informed about current seafood offerings, promotions, and market trends.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding sales transactions and cash handling.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a seafood market or retail environment (preferred)
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage and assist customers effectively.
- Knowledge of different types of seafood and their preparation methods is advantageous.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Basic math skills for weighing and measuring seafood products.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift boxes or containers of seafood weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a refrigerated environment.
