Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Location

Peoria, IL

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit serving patients with diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
• Perform continuous EKG interpretation and collaborate with monitor technicians using Philips telemetry monitoring systems
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
• Manage and troubleshoot respiratory equipment including CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen patients), and heated high-flow oxygen in applicable circumstances
• Float to other general medical units as needed
• Adhere to rotating weekend and holiday scheduling requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and rhythm strip reading
• Experience with medication titration and drip management
• Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free workplace policy
• Solid foundational nursing skills applicable to a telemetry/cardio thoracic patient population

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Current ACLS certification
• Prior experience in a telemetry, step-down, or cardio thoracic nursing environment
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patients
