Operations Specialist

Position Overview Operations Specialist II – Stage/Production Coordinator II in the Sports Facilities operation. This is a permanent, full‑time, classified hourly position. Salary: $25.25 per hour. Responsibilities On‑site management and coordination of event operations staff and equipment during day‑to‑day activities and event days. Set‑up, tear‑down, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of day‑to‑day and special operational equipment including basketball floor, seats, bleachers, tables, chairs, stage, pipe and drape, related vehicles, podiums, etc. Assist with Bobcat Stadium facility operations, turf management, and ice/snow management. Supervise a crew of up to 30 students and up to 35 stagehands (including hiring, training, scheduling as needed). Perform other duties as needed in support of the department’s mission. Required Qualifications Experience in event and building operations or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Experience setting up, operating, maintaining and/or troubleshooting operational equipment. Experience providing excellent customer service to a variety of individuals. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree and/or certification in a related field. Experience working in a university setting and/or athletic facility. Leadership/supervisory experience coordinating, scheduling, and directing the work of others. Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, man‑lifts, tractors, and pickup trucks (certifications included). Experience with event production. Special Requirements Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet Montana state requirements for operating university vehicles. Will work outside in inclement weather, evenings, weekends, long hours, consecutive days during busy periods, occasional holidays, and all home football games. Must obtain certification for operation of a forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift. Physical Demands Wear safety gear as needed. Occasionally plow/shovel snow. Drive both manual and automatic shift vehicles. Routinely move objects of 50–75 lb, occasionally up to 100 lb. Move around facilities and fields for long periods of time; push, pull, lift, bend, crawl, maneuver stairs, step ladders, at heights, and in tight spaces.
