Substitute Custodian

Substitute/Seasonal CustodianThis individual fills in on a part-time or hourly basis for absent regular staff to keep educational facilities clean, safe, and operational. Daily responsibilities include sanitizing restrooms, sweeping floors, and emptying trash. During summer and winter breaks, responsible for cleaning of all facilities and assisting with preparation, set up, and clean-up of buildings for school activities.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Checks daily schedule of school activities that require preparation and clean upAnticipates and replenishes consumable supplies to avoid interruptionsPerforms assigned custodial dutiesCleans assigned area(s)Cleans floors, furnishings, fixtures, walls, and windowsProvides regular/orderly removal of trashMoves and arranges equipment/furnishings and supplies as directedAssists in receiving deliveries. Inspects packages and confirms inventory with packing listsPerforms outdoor tasks such as weeding, trimming, and mowingReads/complies with all MSDS informationFollows approved health and safety guidelinesParticipates in all training as directedAdvises administration of emerging issuesPursues opportunities to enhance professional performanceUtilizes required District software/technologyThe successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED. Work skills substantiated by training and/or relevant work experience. Some maintenance experience is preferred but not required. Ability to cope with stressful and/or adverse conditions. Collects records and maintains data accurately. Applies basic mathematical concepts correctly. Reacts productively to interruptions/changing conditions. Interacts comfortably and confidently with the public. Demonstrates dependability/flexibility. Works effectively with limited supervision. Manages tasks efficiently to meet deadlines. Demonstrates basic proficiency in the use of software/technology. Embodies high ethical standards and integrity. Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct. Meets all mandated health screening requirements. Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check. Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.Salary: Appropriate placement on the Miscellaneous/Intermittent Salary Schedule. Salary will be $16.50 per hour. Maximum 1500 hours per year. One-year contract with opportunity for renewal. Other Benefits: School Employees Retirement System and Worker's Compensation. Upon hire, additional benefits may be offered depending upon hours worked, job classification, and placement on the Upper Valley Career Center Salary Schedule. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.
