BG Staffing is currently seeking a skilled, dependable, and customer-focused Maintenance Technician to support a multifamily housing community in Irvington, NJ . We are also open to considering experienced Certified Maintenance Technicians (CMTs) , with compensation adjusted accordingly based on certifications and experience.

This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who takes pride in delivering quality work, maintaining safe and attractive communities, and providing excellent service to residents. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of apartment maintenance, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and the flexibility to handle a variety of maintenance tasks while maintaining a professional attitude.

Position Overview

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and upkeep of building systems, apartment homes, common areas, and community grounds. You will work closely with property management and residents to ensure maintenance issues are resolved efficiently while helping maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment.

This position requires strong technical skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Compensation & Schedule

• Location: Irvington, NJ 07111
• Pay: Starting at $21.00 per hour
• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Employment Type: Contract and Contract-to-Hire Opportunities Available

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance tasks
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders from residents and property management
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues efficiently
• Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure building systems operate safely and effectively
• Perform regular inspections of buildings, common areas, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance needs
• Assist with apartment turns, including painting, patching, fixture replacement, cleaning, and minor renovations
• Maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of common areas and exterior grounds
• Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors when specialized repairs are required
• Monitor maintenance inventory levels and request supplies as needed
• Maintain accurate records of completed work orders, inspections, and maintenance activities
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and local building codes
• Respond to emergency maintenance situations as required

QualificationsRequired

• Previous apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, or building maintenance experience
• Strong working knowledge of:
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Carpentry
  • General building maintenance
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver's license
• Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented work ethic

Preferred

• Certified Maintenance Technician (CMT) credentials
• EPA Certification
• HVAC Certification
• Experience working in multifamily housing communities
