This Clinical Pharmacist Specialist Position is in the Ambulatory Oncology setting, with a focus on oral oncolytics in the outpatient Medical Oncology, Hematology Oncology, and Gynecologic Oncology clinics. In this position, the pharmacist provides a multitude of services. The pharmacist in this position provides comprehensive medication management for patients receiving oral oncology therapy under a Collaborative Practice Agreement (CPA). They assess patients, order and interpret laboratory tests, and initiate, modify, or discontinue oral cancer therapies and supportive care medications within the scope of the CPA. Monitor treatment effectiveness, manage medication-related toxicities, optimize dosing, and perform comprehensive medication reviews to identify and resolve therapy-related issues. Educate patients and caregivers on medication use, adherence, adverse effect management, and safe handling of oral oncolytics. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and Billings Clinic Specialty Pharmacy to coordinate care, facilitate medication access, and address financial and logistical barriers to treatment.

Clinical Pharmacist I Participates in day-to-day clinical patient care as appropriate for practice area Reviews and interprets provider orders to ensure appropriate medication use. Contacts provider to clarify any questionable order. Carefully checks all data entry, medication carts, and ADM fills for accuracy as appropriate. Accurately and safely, prepares or supervises the preparation of all sterile (e.g., IV admixtures) and non-sterile products. Controls the distribution of controlled substances, dangerous drugs, and investigational drugs as required by state and federal regulations. Assists in the training and orientation of new employees, students, and residents. Provides assistance, direction, and clinical supervision of the pharmacy technical staff as appropriate for practice area. Document in the medical record (and other applications) and is accountable for all clinical pharmacy work including: Monitoring drugs, disease states, and clinical pathways and interacts with providers to optimize drug therapy; writes consults in progress notes Recommends therapeutic alternatives to providers to increase therapeutic efficiency and reduce cost Document consults in designated patient chart or medical record Acts as a drug information resource to medical staff, other professionals, patients, and their families.

Clinical Pharmacist II All job functions stated in the above clinical pharmacist I Participates as needed in clinical programs and/or functions as a clinical pharmacist Responsible for training learners (pharmacy residents and students) as the primary preceptor Education, counseling, and in-servicing are a large part of the position duties.

Clinical Pharmacist Specialists All job functions stated in the above clinical pharmacist I and II Gives formal presentations and written communication to pharmacy, nursing, and medical staff on current and relevant clinical pharmacy topics in their area of expertise. With minimal assistance of pharmacy leadership, directs development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical pharmacy services in specialty area (e.g., medication safety initiatives, protocol development, formulary changes, and alternative medications in response to changes, changes in response to new regulations.) Identifies and implements quality, service, revenue, and expense process improvement initiatives. Participates in institutional and community efforts to promote public health and the pharmacy profession. Night Pharmacists who independently work more than 80% of their FTE shifts during the overnight hours would qualify for the Specialist position.

PharmD and ONE of the following: 1. 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience OR 2. Completion of PGY1 accredited pharmacy residency program Preferred: 1. PGY2 in Ambulatory Care, Oncology, or related area 2. BCACP/BCOP 3. CPP in state of Montana 4. Clinical experience in Oncology, specifically around management of specialty medications in these areas. Requirements Upon Hire: 1. CPP in state of Montana within 2 years of hire 2. BCACP/BCOP required within 2 years of hire Certifications and Licenses Montana Pharmacist At hire Some positions may require additional state licenses. All maintenance fees associated with additional state licenses are the responsibility of the employee. Equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified, and the licensure/certification must be in good standing
