How you'll contribute A Scheduler who excels in this role: Obtains physician's orders and authorization/pre-certification, ensures all required documentation is received and accurate, and enters outpatient procedures in SIS. Informs patient or physician's office staff of any carrier that is out of network or any issue that may result in a decrease of benefits. Schedules all patients for surgical procedures. Calls patients to pre-register and collect payment prior to the date of surgery and perform daily balancing of cash drawer. Back-up other positions in office as needed. What we're looking for Scheduler : Education: High school diploma or equivalent Required or at least three years of directly related experience may be substituted for the required education. Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment is strongly preferred. Medical terminology, billing, and/or collection experience preferred. Computer experience required Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize work based upon patient/department needs.
