Facilities Maintenance Technician IIVictory Programs is an established non-profit organization based in Boston that provides housing, and innovative and comprehensive direct care services, to individuals and families with very specialized needs. The majority of our clients are homeless, in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, and are also struggling with a secondary medical or psychiatric issue, such as HIV/AIDS or diagnosed mental illness. Twenty percent are women caring for children, and 75 percent of Victory Programs' clients are homeless upon admission.Victory Programs' overall goals include providing our clients with the tools to remake their lives, and to help them return to the community to live independently. We support our clients and their families as they work toward transforming their lives: many are working to recover from addiction, stabilizing and improving their health, and re-building their families; others are working on having healthy babies. All need to develop life and job skills, seek educational opportunities, find appropriate housing and employment, and establish a web of support that will sustain them as they move toward independence. As a result of participating in one of our programs, many clients are able to make the transition from being homeless and unemployed, to having a stable job and living in their own home, quite possibly for the first time in their lives.Victory Programs has programs located in several Boston neighborhoods. This position will be primarily located at Victory Programs' emergency shelter at 81 S. Huntington Ave. in Boston, MA, and the role may service other facilities locations, as directed by the Director of Facilities.Description:As part of the facilities team, this role maintains building operations and ensures that the facilities are safe and functional for our multiple properties. The Facilities Maintenance Technician II reports to the Director of Facilities.Essential Functions:Routine building maintenance such as snow removal, lawn maintenance, and janitorial functions, including performing key maintenance responsibilities at assigned buildings, as well as field work, as directed;Repair facilities equipment such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc;Light plumbing repairs such as removing blockages, fixture replacement, addressing leaks;Light electrical repairs such as installing light fixtures, outlets, and switches;Complete carpentry projects which include installing cabinets, repair/replace trim, repair/replace stair treads, as well as other items as assigned;Ability to install various flooring which may include: ceramic tile, click and lock flooring systems, as well as glue down flooring;Complete preventative maintenance on HVAC and mechanical systems;Exterior and interior painting;Ensure work sites are maintained in a clean and safe condition as well as removing all tools, materials, and debris when a project is completed;In collaboration with team members within the Department and organization, complete special projects, as assigned, and regularly maintain proactive communication;Address and/or report potential safety hazards as identified;Mentor and provide on the job training to Facilities Maintenance Technician I(s);On-call and emergency response as part of Victory's rotating coverage model.Management of Facilities Department work order requests, including receiving and reviewing work orders, responding to work order requests, and delegating work order tickets, in coordination with the Facilities DirectorRequirements:Skills and Qualifications:Minimum of one year performing maintenance and facilities work or demonstrating an interest in trades with relevant non-facilities experience;The ability to lift 50+ pounds;Valid MA driver's license with a satisfactory driving record;Ability to act with flexibility and adaptability;A willingness to work with a diverse client population in a compassionate manner;Proactive, mission oriented mindset and an understanding that our work is often non-linear in order to meet the needs of our clients;Diligence to ensure that all jobs are completed in a high-quality and timely manner.Schedule: Monday-Friday (40 hours/week w/paid lunch break) - 7am to 3pm.Hourly Rate: $31.41/hourVictory Programs values a diverse workforce, as we collectively seek to create welcoming, inclusive and accessible environments for our employees and the people we serve.
