Security Officer

SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital

Job Summary Provides a reasonably safe and secure environment by delivering security services for staff, patients, visitors and premises. Acts as a first responder to urgent facility matters. Responsibilities Conduct interior and exterior patrols, observe for safety and security issues and monitor parking lots. Perform door checks, inspect lighting, verify elevator operation, assist with disruptive individuals and patient restraints, and provide escorts to staff and clients. Respond to emergency requests, escort personnel through the building, and provide post‑mortem services. Deliver professional customer service in complex situations, proactively identifying hazards. Observe and report security concerns and incidents. Complete incident reports and shift logs, forwarding them to appropriate personnel. Maintain life‑safety equipment: test alarms, check AEDs, fire extinguishers, oxygen tanks; manage access control, badging and door integrity. Must be willing to become an armed officer while employed with SSM Health. High school diploma or GED. Minimum 10 years of work experience. Successful completion of a psychological assessment after conditional offer. Valid Missouri driver’s license and motor vehicle record check. Physical Requirements Constant use of hearing and vision for alarms and near/far distances. Frequent lifting and carrying of 0‑25 lbs, 25‑50 lbs, and occasional lifting up to 50+ lbs. Frequent standing, walking, twisting, walking and propitious use of vision for spatial judgment.
