Tractor Operator (Gardening) NA-06.

Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment to maintain multiple golf courses, including lawn mowers, tractors, forklift, aerators, verti‑cut machines, backhoes, front‑end loaders, dump trucks, and rollers. Perform mowing, pushing, pulling, piling, and loading of materials such as sand, gravel, or earth to accomplish landscaping, filling, digging ditches and holes, and hauling; also clear brush, rocks, and remove tree stumps. Adjust attachments to the equipment to achieve proper level, angles, or depth according to the job requirements and equipment type. Apply fertilizer, sow seeds, and lay sod in required areas; spray or apply insecticides and herbicides as directed; water different areas of the golf course when required. Perform necessary repair and maintenance work on equipment and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience and training that furnish the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade; including skill in operating vehicles of the type described in the duties. Knowledge of vehicle safety regulations to determine when mechanical or operational problems indicate that vehicles are unsafe for operation. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment. Ability to read, understand, and apply instructions and other materials related to the job. Ability to perform the work of the position under normal supervision. Conditions of Employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one‑year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E‑Verify) check. Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities. Subject to satisfactory completion of pre‑employment background checks in accordance with AR 215‑3, para. 2, including a medical examination. Successful completion of a pre‑employment physical and background check is required. Requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be available to work day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts depending on the organization’s needs. Must be willing to accept a flexible appointment. This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) as required by Army Regulation 600‑85. A negative drug test is required prior to appointment for a TDP; incumbent will be subject to subsequent random drug tests as required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license while employed in this position. Must be at least 18 years of age.
