JOB SUMMARY The Speech-Language Pathologist carries out speech and language instruction within a student’s individualized educational program for Aspire Public Schools. The SLP instructs students with IEPs in an inclusive environment and works closely with school sites, Special Education staff, Aspire staff, and may collaborate with outside consultants and district personnel as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide direct, individual and/or small group instruction to identified students on a regularly scheduled basis as required in the IEP Collaborate with team members, parents and related service providers for reviewing student data, ensuring IEP implementation, co-planning and/or co-teaching Participate in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs for students who qualify for Related Services per California educational codes Screen, assess, and provide specialized speech and language services aligned with Common Core and English Language Development standards Create and maintain records, files, and reports as required by federal, state, and SELPA regulations Maintain knowledge of current regulations pertaining to special education and meet IDEA requirements related to case management Maintain high expectations for students with disabilities by developing instructional materials and strategies for the general education setting to ensure equitable access Implement health and mobility supports (1:1 support in classroom, assist with health-related needs under supervision of school nurse, and assist with physical needs such as mobility) Input weekly IEP service tracking and meet all IEP timelines Create and maintain notifications, records, files, and reports as required by regulations Develop a thorough progress monitoring tool for students and share with staff and parents for decision-making Communicate regularly with parents about progress and collaborate to obtain input Collaborate with outside providers as needed with parent consent Provide oversight and support to SLPAs Demonstrate knowledge of Aspire’s mission, values, policies, confidentiality standards, and code of ethical behavior Knowledge of special education principles, assessment, planning, instruction, and evaluation Knowledge of child cognitive development and diverse learning styles Ability and willingness to implement students’ IEPs Belief in inclusion and Aspire’s Equity Belief Statements with high expectations for diverse learners Ability to reflect and improve; meet deadlines Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and exercise good judgment to modify activities Strong written and verbal communication; collaborate with general and special education teams, parents, and community Ability to excel as a team member and apply learning from professional development Ability to work with an ethnically and economically diverse student body Perform other related duties as required Competencies: knowledge of speech-language assessment, planning, instruction, and evaluation Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles Ability and willingness to implement students’ IEPs Belief in inclusion and Aspire’s Equity Belief Statements Ability to reflect and improve; adapt to changing conditions Strong written and verbal communication; collaborate with education teams, parents and community Thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; flexible and able to work autonomously and with direction as needed Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a dynamic environment Alignment to Aspire’s mission, vision and values QUALIFICATIONS & Required Licenses, Credentials or Certifications Master’s Degree Valid California Speech-Language Pathology School Services credential or California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services credential with language, speech and hearing authorization, or Certification of Clinical Competence Experience 1+ years working with students in a school setting Work Authorization & Health Requirements Clear the Department of Justice background screening Authorized to work in the United States Provide health (TB) clearance (renewed every four years) Compensation Aspire Public Schools offers a competitive base salary, benefits including paid time off, health coverage, life insurance, long-term disability, retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and adoption assistance. Salary range for this position type is $96,017 to $162,879, based on years of experience.
