Metrologist

Quality Lab TechnicianQuality Lab Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, measuring, and documenting products or materials to ensure they meet company, customer, and regulatory quality standards. This role supports manufacturing and quality assurance teams by performing laboratory tests, operating inspection equipment, maintaining records, and helping investigate quality issues.Key Responsibilities:Perform inspections and laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process parts, and finished productsUse precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and optical systemsRecord and analyze test data accuratelyMaintain quality documentation, inspection reports, and test recordsIdentify nonconforming materials and communicate findings to production and quality teamsSupport root cause investigations and corrective actionsConduct first article inspections and capability studies when requiredInsure calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, measuring tools and gaugesFollow company quality systems, safety procedures, and work instructionsSupport audits and compliance activitiesRequired Skills & Qualifications:High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferredExperience in manufacturing, quality inspection, or laboratory testing preferredAbility to read blueprints, drawings, GD&T, and specificationsFamiliarity with quality tools and methods: SPC PFMEA Control Plans Root Cause Analysis 8D problem solvingStrong attention to detail and documentation accuracyBasic computer skills (Excel, ERP/MES systems, quality software)Good communication and teamwork skillsPreferred Experience:Experience in industrial manufacturing or equivalent environment.Experience using CMM software or vision systemsUnderstanding of metrology and calibration practicesPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 25–50 lbs occasionallyGood vision and manual dexterity for detailed inspectionsExample Work Environment:Manufacturing plantQuality laboratoryProduction floorClimate-controlled inspection roomExample Performance Metrics:Inspection accuracyResponse time to quality issuesScrap/rework reductionDocumentation completenessGauge calibration complianceAAP/EEO Statement:Lippert provides equal employment opportunity to all team members and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, age, genetic information, disability, citizen status, protected veteran status, military service, marital status or any other legally protected category as established by federal, state, or local law.
