The start date for this position is January 2026 or beyond, we are unable to consider earlier start dates. In this role, you will work as part of a team applying fundamental principles of mechanical engineering, often with key electrical considerations, to solve difficult technical problems for our clients. You will be expected to grow in the key aspects of consulting, including continued development of technical expertise, the ability to synthesize arguments and positions from vast amounts of information, and effective spoken and written communications. You will be responsible for Communicating effectively with other engineers, managers, clients and administrative professionalsManaging and executing specific projects related to a variety of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering applications including product testing in the laboratory and evaluation of components during site and field visitsDesigning and implementing custom experimental methods to address unique problems related to mechanical or electrical performancePerforming technical evaluations and analysis in order to prepare written reports and presentationsPerforming field inspections and conducting hands-on failure analysis for litigation mattersMarketing the firm’s technical capabilities to clients and the scientific communityParticipating in office activities (monthly office meetings, learning lunches, etc) to foster a collaborative work environment; this is not a remote position and applicants should expect to work primarily from the Denver, Colorado location You will have the following skills and qualifications Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics (A Ph.D. is required for this role, although candidates within 6 months of completing their Ph.D. will also be considered, with employment contingent on Ph.D. completion)Strong background in experimental mechanical and/or electrical testing or hands on experienceStrong ability to distill complex technical information and present it effectively to a wide range of audiences with varying technical backgroundsInterest in collaborating and working with multidisciplinary teams within and across our various practicesDesire and drive to eventually manage large projects in terms of technical direction, staffing, budget, and client interactionsWilling to travel, often on short notice, and sometimes for extended periods of timeAbility and desire to become a Licensed Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringPresently legally authorized to work in the United States. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
