What you’ll do

• Run CNC and Swiss lathes under supervision to manufacture precision components that meet customer specs and company quality standards.
• Perform basic setups, tool changes, and offsets as trained.
• Load materials, monitor cycles, and keep machines productive to support schedule commitments.
• Follow work instructions and blueprints to produce parts to print.
• Record production counts, downtime, and other key data accurately.

Quality expectations

• Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators for first-piece and in-process checks.
• Read basic blueprints and apply fundamental GD&T concepts as you’re trained.
• Identify quality issues or tool wear early and communicate promptly.
• Help minimize scrap and rework through disciplined processes and attention to detail.

Safety, organization, and teamwork

• Comply with safety procedures and PPE requirements at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, hazard-free workstation; contribute to 5S and lean initiatives.
• Take direction from leads and senior machinists; communicate status and issues clearly across shifts and departments.

Learn and advance

This developmental role builds your foundation in blueprint reading, machine controls, tooling, and machining processes. As your skills, reliability, quality, and machine proficiency grow, you’ll have a path to advance to Machinist II.

What you bring

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and a strong willingness to learn.
• Basic math skills and the ability to use measuring tools accurately.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.

Bonus points

• Previous exposure to manufacturing or machining.
• Time on CNC equipment or formal technical training.
• Introductory blueprint-reading experience.

Physical requirements

• Stand for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand motions.
• Comfort working around noise, coolant, and moving equipment.

Performance metrics

• Attendance: 98% or higher.
• Daily production goal attainment: 90% or higher.
• Scrap: 2% or less.
• Setup times: at or below standard.
• Measurement and inspection: accurate and consistent.
• Safety and housekeeping: consistently followed.
• Technical growth: demonstrable progress toward independent operation.
