Operating Engineer

Overview Data Center Operating Engineer is responsible for the delivery of best‑practice systems and problem resolution on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, cooling systems, and more. Responsibilities Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance to keep all building systems running 100% up‑time, including fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, CRAH, plumbing, controls, electrical backup systems (lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, switchgear, power distribution, transformers), and hot water systems. Monitor operations, adjust, and maintain refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning equipment; boilers; ventilating and water heaters; pumps, valves, piping, filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment. Record readings and adjust equipment to ensure proper operation. Analyze system operation to determine causes of problems or malfunctions and take corrective action. Comply with departmental policy for safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials and maintain a clean and safe workplace. Learn and understand the data center site to manage incidents and events that risk critical systems. Manage work orders, including CMMS, vendor management, and customer‑facing tickets. Understand and follow emergency escalation procedures. Perform additional job duties as required. Physical Work Abilities & Requirements Frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting (minimum 50 lbs), stooping, and working/extending overhead. Walking large, campus‑like settings. Climbing stairs and navigating rooftops to access equipment. Using ladders up to 30 ft and working from heights. Ability to climb a ladder with a 300‑lb weight limit. Work different schedules, including holidays. Respond to site emergencies. Required Qualifications 2+ years experience working in a data center or critical facility. Experience with building systems, including UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgears. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Suite, and CMMS. Preferred Qualifications Corrigo experience. Universal EPA 608 certification. Training in NFPA 70E. This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
