Description

Citi Commercial Bank is seeking a Managing Director, Media & Communications Banker based in New York or Los Angeles to help drive and expand CCB's Media & Communications franchise across North America.

The successful candidate will serve as a senior coverage banker responsible for originating, developing, and deepening relationships across a portfolio of Media & Communications clients. The role will play a critical part in expanding CCB's market presence, increasing client penetration, and delivering the full capabilities of Citi to companies operating across media, entertainment, digital media, advertising, telecommunications, communications infrastructure, information services, and related subsectors.

This position requires a highly respected banker with deep Media & Communications sector expertise, strong industry relationships, and a demonstrated ability to originate new business opportunities while expanding existing client relationships. The individual will partner closely with colleagues across Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Treasury & Trade Solutions, Markets, Wealth, and other Citi businesses to deliver integrated solutions and drive franchise growth.

The role is intended to strengthen Citi's presence within the Media & Communications sector and accelerate growth across the North American client portfolio by delivering a coordinated "One Citi" coverage strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Franchise Development

• Support execution of CCB's Media & Communications growth strategy across North America.
• Identify emerging trends, evolving business models, and strategic opportunities across media, communications, entertainment, digital content, advertising, telecommunications, and related subsectors.
• Provide industry intelligence and strategic insights regarding market developments, competitive dynamics, technological disruption, and capital flows.
• Serve as a visible ambassador for Citi within the Media & Communications ecosystem and enhance the firm's industry profile.

Client Coverage & Business Development

• Develop and execute a client coverage strategy focused on acquiring, deepening, and expanding relationships within the Media & Communications sector.
• Originate new client relationships and expand existing relationships by delivering the full breadth of Citi's banking capabilities and fostering deep client engagement across the firm's product and advisory platforms.
• Build trusted advisor relationships with CEOs, CFOs, owners, founders, sponsors, boards, and senior executives across the industry.
• Increase share of wallet by identifying client needs and delivering tailored commercial banking and capital markets solutions.
• Drive revenue growth through proactive coverage, strategic dialogue, and coordinated delivery of Citi capabilities.
• Partner with product specialists and banking teams to bring innovative and customized solutions to clients throughout their growth journey.

Media & Communications Sector Leadership

• Maintain deep knowledge of industry trends, business models, regulatory developments, competitive positioning, and emerging opportunities.
• Cultivate relationships with key industry participants, investors, advisors, sponsors, and other ecosystem stakeholders.
• Represent Citi at industry conferences, client events, forums, and thought leadership activities.
• Drive industry thought leadership through client engagement, market insights, and strategic sector perspectives.
• Serve as a trusted resource internally on Media & Communications sector developments and client opportunities.

One Citi Partnership

• Collaborate closely with partners across Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Treasury & Trade Solutions, Markets, Wealth, and other Citi businesses to deliver a coordinated "One Citi" approach.
• Coordinate coverage efforts across banking and product organizations to maximize client engagement and franchise value.
• Identify opportunities to expand Citi's relationships by leveraging the firm's full suite of banking, treasury, lending, trade, and capital markets capabilities.
• Support strategic initiatives designed to strengthen Citi's position as a leading banking partner to Media & Communications companies.

Risk Management

• Maintain strong credit and risk discipline while supporting sustainable business growth.
• Partner with Risk, Credit, and Underwriting teams to evaluate opportunities and manage portfolio exposure consistent with Citi's risk appetite.
• Exercise sound judgment in balancing risk and return objectives while delivering solutions that meet client needs.
• Ensure all business activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations, Citi policies, and governance standards.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, safeguarding Citi, its clients, and its reputation.

Knowledge / Experience

• 15+ years of commercial banking, corporate banking, industry banking, investment banking, or related financial services experience.
• Proven Managing Director-level experience with an established reputation in the Media & Communications sector.
• Demonstrated success originating, developing, and expanding relationships with Media & Communications companies and senior industry executives.
• Deep understanding of the Media & Communications industry, including traditional media, digital media, advertising, entertainment, telecommunications, communications infrastructure, and related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of industry participants, business models, competitive dynamics, and market trends.
• Significant experience advising clients on commercial banking, treasury management, lending, capital markets, and strategic financing solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial and corporate banking products, including cash management, derivatives, syndicated and bilateral loans, capital markets issuances, trade solutions, and working capital products.
• Significant experience with credit decision-making authority, including complex capital structures and cross-border transactions.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across businesses and deliver integrated client solutions within a matrix organization.
• Strong track record of business development, revenue growth, client acquisition, and franchise expansion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
• Master's/MBA degree preferred from a top economics, business, financial engineering, communications, or related program.
• Senior Credit Officer or similar credentials.
• Demonstrated commercial banking and credit expertise, including experience with complex capital structures and sophisticated financing solutions.
• Deep Media & Communications sector knowledge and established relationships across key industry participants and decision makers.
• Licenses: S24, S79, S63 and SIE.
