Educational and career development options, including tuition and certification reimbursement, scholarship opportunities Staff Safety (a wearable badge that allows nurses to quickly and discreetly call for help when safety is a concern) Differentials for night/weekend shifts, higher education, certifications and various lead roles (for eligible positions) Malpractice liability insurance Loan forgiveness through the New Mexico Higher Education Department EPIC electronic charting system Type of Opportunity Full time FTE 0.90 Job Exempt Yes Work Shift 10 Hour Days (United States of America) Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Provide leadership and supervision for all family birthing staff, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and support personnel Ensure high-quality, evidence-based care across labor & delivery, postpartum, and newborn services Promote patient safety and oversee clinical standards, policies, and procedures Serve as a clinical resource for complex obstetric and neonatal cases Operations Management Manage day-to-day operations of the Family Birthing Unit, including staffing, scheduling, and patient flow Monitor unit productivity, census, and resource allocation Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and ancillary departments to ensure coordinated care Address operational challenges common to rural healthcare environments (e.g., limited resources, transfers) Staff Development & Engagement Recruit, train, and retain qualified nursing staff Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed Promote continuing education, certifications (NRP, ACLS, etc.), and professional growth Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and compassionate care Qualifications Licensure: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License or Graduate Nurse Permit required BLS required.
