Medical Technologist

Responsibilities Communicate accurate and clinically relevant information with patients, families, and co‑workers during hand‑offs and other interactions. Ensure all necessary parties receive the information required for optimal patient outcomes. Properly identify patients and samples during the pre‑analytical, analytical, and post‑analytical phases. Perform analyses on a variety of biological specimens including blood, urine, stool, body fluids, and tissues. Perform, evaluate, and document calibration and quality control; resolve issues as needed. Maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with assays and instruments. Follow laboratory procedures for test analysis, reporting, and record keeping of patient results. Communicate effectively and professionally with physicians, nurses, other medical personnel, patients, and families. Prioritize workload to ensure timely reporting of results. Maintain and improve skills by participating in at least one continuing education activity annually. Actively seek and identify opportunities for process improvement. Assist in procedure writing, updating, and validating. Act as a resource for laboratory medicine information to providers and others. Use the laboratory information system to access information, enter results, and generate reports. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field. Required certifications: ASCP, IMLS, MLS(ASCPi), NCA, AMT, MT (AMT) or MT (HEW). Willingness to work night shift (9 pm‑7:30 am) and day shifts, weekends, holidays, or on call as needed. Post‑offer drug screen required. Shift: Night shift (9 pm‑7:30 am); day shifts, weekends, holidays, and on‑call duties as required. Location: Hansen Family Hospital, Iowa Falls, IA.
