Evergreen Montessori is seeking to hire a teacher for its 3-6 year old classroom for the 2026-27 school year. This is a full-time academic teaching position that follows a 9.5 month school year calendar. The salary scale is dependent on your work experience and credentials.  Salary scale is equivalent to a $29 - $33 per hour wage.  School hours are Monday through Friday from 7:45am-3:15pm for 178 days and 16 hours of teacher related events/activities (1,351 hrs).

There is an option to work an extra hour each day during Extended Day for 166 of the school days to earn an additional $3,984 per year ($24/hr) and up to 6 weeks of Summer Camp for 210 hrs ($24/hr) to earn an additional $840/week.  Summer Camp hours would be Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm.

Time off would include holidays throughout the year (2 days for Thanksgiving, 8 days for Christmas, 6 days for Spring Break, and 7 additional holidays), and 5 to 11 weeks during the Summer depending on what Summer Camps you choose to work.

Candidate must hold a Pennsylvania teaching credential for grades PreK-3rd grade (does not need to be active) or a Private School Nursery/Kindergarten certification. Montessori experience is preferred, but not necessary as long as the candidate is qualified and willing to learn.

Competitive hourly rate available, Simple IRA plan with employer matching up to 3%, and 3-4 days of Paid Time Off due to academic calendar and Summer Break.

Responsibilities to the School and Classroom:

The teacher will...

· Guide and facilitate children in their learning and understanding of the Montessori materials, providing lessons on materials when the child is showing interest and mentally prepared to use the materials

· Carefully observe and keep daily anecdotal records of each student’s individual needs and behavior in the classroom with minimal to no interruption

· Carry out the duties as assigned by the directress

· Record and maintain student academic records and portfolio files

· Prepare and send home School-to-Home folders once every two weeks to a month

· Write up student evaluations mid-year and end-of-year as well as arrange for family conferences to review student progress and update personal information, immunization records, and tuition agreement

· Be able to communicate policies and procedures written in the Evergreen Montessori Handbook

· Design, direct and assist in setting up and maintaining a “prepared environment”

· Inform the directress of any classroom difficulties, including discipline, health, equipment needs, repairs and maintenance.

· Meet and communicate with assistant teacher daily to review and discuss classroom observations and happenings in order to create and implement goals for the class, individual students, and personal goals

Responsibilities to the Children and Parents:

The teacher will...

· Guide and facilitate children as they move around the classroom:

• Choose work
• Complete different work cycles
• Label work in progress
• Return work to its proper placement upon completion
• Assist with snack and lunch

· Maintain a quiet and peaceful learning environment

· Assist children when necessary with other personal needs

· Allow children to be as independent as possible and try not to go beyond the role of facilitator in their growth

· Encourage individual work time to promote independence as well as group work to promote socialization

· Communicate immediately with parents about potential problems or child needs

· Keep all information confidential

· Be professional and positive in all dealings with children and parents

· Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents, and co-workers

· Share all information from parents with the Directress
