HVAC Mechanic

City/State & Work Shift Virginia Beach, VA • First (Days) Overview: Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, located in Virginia Beach, VA, is hiring a Full-time, day-shift HVAC Mechanic. Shift/Hours: Full-time, 40 hours a week; Day Shift from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and weekend schedule every 4-5 weeks. The HVAC Mechanic is experienced in all phases of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating. This individual inspects, repairs and maintains HVAC systems in addition to maintaining parts, supplies and equipment. Responsible for following the operational and departmental guidelines, and for meeting all regulatory and compliance requirements, e.g. OSHA. Education One year of post-secondary/vocational training in air conditioning, refrigeration, math, physics, chemistry, and basic mechanics. High School Grad or Equivalent – (Required) Trade School Graduate – (Required) Skills Required Proficient with direct digital controls (DDC) Driver's License – Certification – Other/National – (Required) Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type 1 (Small Appliances) – Certification – Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – (Required) Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type 2 (HighPressure Appliances) – Certification – Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – (Required) Journeyman Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Tradesman (JHVA) – Certification – Other/National (Preferred) Journeyman's license for Heating Vent and AC must be attained by the end of the first year of employment. Compensation We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $32.58 - $48.79 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
