Surgical Technologist - Ambulatory Surgery

Location & Schedule Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre (GSWB) – Days, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. Full time day shift with varied start times and 10 or 12 hour shifts. Job Summary $7,500 signing bonus if eligible. Surgical technologist position requiring certification; prior experience preferred. Union member. Responsibilities Assist surgeon with procedures for patients of all ages during surgical intervention. Coordinate treatments with other disciplines and provide basic patient assistance. Connect patients to clinical equipment and maintain aseptic techniques during preparation. Participate in surgical timeout, identify correct surgical site, and identify/buffer supplies. Prepare, verify and manage specimens, sponges, needles, instruments. Set up and clean operating rooms, restock supplies, monitor inventory. Assist in wound assessment, apply or change sterile dressing under RN/Surgeon direction. Report changes in patient condition, document pertinent medical information, initiate emergencies as indicated. Assist in training new personnel within the primary area of responsibility. Qualifications & Requirements Certification as a Surgical Technologist (required). Minimum 1 year related work experience (preferred). Communication, computer literacy, medical devices and tools proficiency. Teamwork and ability to anticipate surgeon’s needs. Education Graduate from a Specialty Training Program (required).
