Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Dialysis Nurse Manager to oversee the clinical and operational activities of our dialysis unit. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality dialysis care while providing leadership and direction to the nursing team.

The Dialysis Nurse Manager will play a key role in managing patient care, coordinating dialysis treatments, supporting staff development, and ensuring the dialysis program remains compliant with applicable healthcare regulations and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and manage the dialysis nursing team to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.
• Serve as the Nurse Manager for daily clinical operations within the dialysis unit.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for dialysis patients.
• Oversee the delivery of dialysis treatments and monitor patient responses and outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements related to dialysis care.
• Monitor patient outcomes and make appropriate adjustments to care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Provide education, guidance, and support to dialysis patients and their families.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, orientation, training, and performance of dialysis nursing staff.
• Provide ongoing clinical leadership and mentorship to nurses and other dialysis team members.
• Collaborate with nephrologists, physicians, dietitians, social workers, technicians, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records, care plans, and clinical documentation.
• Oversee the safe operation, maintenance, and appropriate use of dialysis equipment.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support continuous improvement within the dialysis program.
• Monitor and support Anemia Management and Bone Disease Management programs.
• Ensure timely and accurate EQRS reporting and NHSN reporting.
• Oversee Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities and reporting.
• Participate in and maintain compliance with Monthly IPRO learning requirements.
• Promote infection prevention and patient safety practices throughout the dialysis unit.
• Ensure staff follow established clinical protocols, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• BSN or higher preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of dialysis nursing experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or Nurse Manager role.
• Previous experience managing a dialysis unit strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of dialysis procedures, equipment, patient care standards, and renal nursing practices.
• Experience with EQRS reporting, Anemia Management, Bone Disease Management, NHSN reporting, QAPI reporting, and Monthly IPRO learning.
• CNN (Certified Nephrology Nurse) certification preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to effectively manage staff and clinical operations in a fast-paced dialysis environment.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, regulatory compliance, and positive patient outcomes.
