A 370-bed regional medical center in San Antonio, TX (78212) is seeking a Director of Emergency Services. The hospital is home to the largest emergency room in downtown San Antonio — a 29-bed ER (with expansion plans underway) — and holds Chest Pain Center accreditation. The facility is also a Level 4 Trauma facility seeing approximately 50,000 visits annually.

The role. The Director of Emergency Services reports to the CNO and oversees a team of approximately 100 staff, including two managers, CNCs, and EMS techs. This leader drives clinical quality and patient safety by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices, managing variation in clinical practice, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. The Director owns patient throughput — from volume forecasting and patient flow coordination to admission and discharge planning — while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across departments. Budget accountability is central to the role: the Director participates in annual budget development, monitors departmental financial performance, identifies cost-reduction opportunities, and maintains effective labor management including scheduling and productivity. The position also partners with administrative and physician leaders to evaluate and develop new or expanded service offerings.

Compensation. $145,000 - $160,000 per year plus $20,000 sign-on bonus
