LPN School Nurse

Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a school setting is responsible for providing nursing care and health services to students. This role includes administering daily medications, monitoring diabetes, and managing other health-related needs within the school health room. The LVN/LPN works under the direction of registered nurses and collaborates with school staff to ensure student well-being and safety. Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage students' diabetes and other health conditions.
• Provide basic nursing care and first aid as needed within the school environment.
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation for students.
• Communicate health concerns and collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers.
• Ensure the health room is stocked, clean, and organized for safe student care.
• Respond to health emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Washington state LVN/LPN license.
• Basic nursing skills including medication administration and patient monitoring.
• Ability to work independently and follow established protocols.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred but not required.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Prior experience working in school or pediatric nursing settings.
• Additional certifications in diabetes care or pediatric first aid.
• Knowledge of school health policies and regulations.

Special Considerations:

• Position is based in a school health room environment.
• Must be able to manage multiple student health needs in a fast-paced setting.
• Compliance with school district policies and confidentiality requirements.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position during the school year (26-27 school year).
• Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week.
• Approximately 7 hours per day during school hours.
