Pay Rate: $82.00–$83.00 / Hour (USD)

Shift / Schedule: Night shift (3x12 hours), 18:45–7:15

Job Summary

This is a contract nursing position in Labor and Delivery at a major medical center. The role requires experience with obstetric nursing, including the ability to circulate C-sections. The position operates on a 36 hours per week schedule with rotating shifts. Candidates must be prepared for a structured orientation process with mandatory compliance exams.

Key Responsibilities

• Circulate C-sections and provide intraoperative nursing care
• Deliver direct patient care in the Labor and Delivery unit
• Monitor fetal and maternal vitals and assess patient status
• Collaborate with obstetric team members including physicians, anesthesia, and support staff
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and documentation
• Ensure safe, evidence-based care aligned with facility protocols

Required Skills

• Advanced knowledge of obstetric nursing practices and protocols
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical stamina for 12-hour shifts and demanding clinical work

Education Requirements

• Current RN License (Massachusetts strongly preferred; will accept submission without MA license if traveler commits to obtaining it as a priority upon offer acceptance)
• AWOHNN certification (Intermediate level or above) required
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Previous EPIC experience required

Required Experience

• 3 years of nursing experience strongly preferred
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with active travel nursing experience considered
• Prior obstetric or Labor and Delivery nursing experience implied through clinical responsibilities

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• 12-hour rotating night shifts (18:45–7:15)
• 36 hours per week (EOW/EOH)
• Ability to lift and position patients
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• High-acuity, fast-paced delivery and surgical environment
• Exposure to biological hazards standard in obstetric care
• Must be flexible and adaptable to changing clinical needs

Important Notes

• Orientation Compliance Exams: Travelers must acknowledge 2 mandatory pass/fail exams at orientation: (1) Medication Exam and (2) Telemetry Exam. Each exam allows only 1 attempt. Failure results in immediate contract cancellation. Study materials will be provided prior to and during the First Day of Instruction (FDI).
• Licensing Priority: Candidates without an active Massachusetts RN license must make obtaining the license a priority immediately upon offer acceptance.
• Flu Vaccination: Required with medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed.
