Pediatrician
The Pediatrician is responsible for the delivery of quality medical care to patients of Midtown Health Care and functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team within the scope of his or her medical practice. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Provides direct patient care to clinic patients. Examines, diagnoses, and prescribes appropriate treatment plans for patients. Follow appropriate standards of care for each patient. Refers patients for appropriate specialty care services, lab and x-ray and any other ancillary services that are appropriate for patient's management and care. Reviews all lab and x-ray reports for patients under his/her care on a timely basis and makes medical management decisions appropriately. Maintains health records for all patients and provides appropriate follow-up instructions through the use of electronic health records. Provides continuity of care to patients and serves in rotation for after-hour care coverage. Ensures that patient and family are educated about diagnosis and the plan of care. Participates in the review, development, and training of patient care policies, procedures, protocols, and standing orders. Accepts responsibility for remaining current with medical and health care trends and information that impact the medical practice. Assumes responsibility/accountability for delegating, directing, and supervising patient care activities. Trains, mentors, and supervises students and clinical support staff engaged in activities and procedures, as appropriate. Provides professional perspective and direction in the development of the community health care plan. Assists in maintaining an efficient, safe, secure, orderly, and aseptic environment of care for all patients and employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Duties 1 through 6 are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. All other job duties are secondary functions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to efficiently carry out Midtown Health's Center mission statement and comply with its policies and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and the public and to be able to demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance to HIPAA regulations. Ability to comply with all occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). Ability to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills to address clinic's needs. Ability to interpret oral and written instructions and do appropriate follow-up. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Must have exceptional time management and organizational skills. Ability to constructively participate in quality improvement efforts. Ability to actively participate in marketing and outreach activities when requested and emergency response events when required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written skills highly desired. Knowledge of advanced principles of health promotion, prevention, and motivation. Knowledge and understanding of program requirements to maintain FQHC and PCMH status. Ability to document, with clarity, all information relevant to a patient's needs. Ability to effectively present information in small group situations to patients, clinic staff, and the general public. Ability to navigate EHR, Nexus, and communicable disease reporting systems. Education and Experience, Licensure and Certification: Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine required. Administrative experience as a physician in implementing community health programs preferred. Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Nebraska required. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license required. Must meet all credentialing requirements as required by Medicaid, Medicare, and insurances. Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to utilize own transportation for work purposes. Hearing required to be within normal parameters to perform job requirements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
