Sr. Director, Training, Learning & Executive Development

Apnimed is a rapidly growing pharmaceutical company working to transform the treatment of sleep apnea based on a simple idea – patients with obstructive sleep apnea could benefit from treatment with a safe and effective oral medication dosed once daily at bedtime. Our lead development program targets the neurologic control of upper airway muscles to maintain an open airway during sleep. Summary: The Sr. Director, Training, Learning & Executive Development will build the foundation for excellence across Apnimed’s commercial organization — owning field contact reporting, training curriculum, executive coaching, and leadership development. This role will report to the Vice President, Commercial Operations and will be responsible for designing an exceptional, engaging learning experience for every employee, ensuring the field organization has the knowledge, tools, and coaching needed to succeed, and increasingly embraces innovation and AI to personalize training, summarize field activity, and accelerate leadership growth. This is a people‑first role for someone who is passionate about building capability at scale — equally comfortable architecting a company‑wide learning experience, designing a certification program, and coaching a senior leader — and who sees AI as a way to make training more personalized and impactful, not just more efficient. Key Job Duties include, but are not limited to: Own Field Contact Reporting as a coaching tool — equipping field leaders to observe, document, and debrief ride‑alongs consistently, and turning what they see into specific, actionable growth feedback that helps field employees develop Own Training Curriculum design and maintenance, keeping content current as products and market conditions evolve Design and deliver an exceptional end‑to‑end learning experience for employees — mapping the journey from onboarding through ongoing development, and applying adult learning and instructional design principles to make training engaging, practical, and measurable Lead Leadership Development programs across all levels of the organization, from frontline manager onboarding to senior leader development Build and manage the executive coaching program, including selection and oversight of external coaches, coaching for senior and emerging leaders, and integration of coaching with succession and talent planning Partner cross‑functionally with Commercial Excellence, Commercial Innovation & AI, and Commercial Planning & Performance to align training content and field readiness with broader commercial priorities Manage external training vendors and content partners supporting curriculum development Qualifications: 10+ years of progressive training, learning & development, or sales training experience in the biopharmaceutical industry Familiarity applying AI tools (e.g., generative content authoring, roleplay/coaching simulation, feedback synthesis) to training and leadership development Demonstrated ability to build and scale training curricula for a growing field organization Proven track record designing high‑impact learning experiences that employees actively want to engage with, with clear measures of adoption, retention, and business impact Strong facilitation and instructional design skills Experience building and running executive coaching and leadership development programs for managers through senior leaders; formal coaching certification (e.g., ICF) a plus Excellent communication and cross‑functional stakeholder management skills Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred What Apnimed Offers: 401(k) with company match Generous time off for vacation Generous Company paid benefits Flexible working environment Motivated and experienced team Location and Other Information: Apnimed is a publicly licensed company based in Cambridge, MA; we are generally virtual and specific location within the US is not critical.
