GI Registered Nurse (RN)

As a GI Registered Nurse, you will be pivotal in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal and endoscopic procedures. Your expertise in moderate sedation administration and patient monitoring will ensure a safe and effective procedural environment.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday

Shift Length: 10 hours per shift

Variable start times: Between 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

If only available for GI procedures, Wednesdays will be a scheduled day off.

Unit Type: GI/Endoscopy

Number of Suites: 1

Patient Ratios: 4 RNs scheduled per procedure day, with an average of up to 15 patients per day.

Required Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Responsibilities:

Conduct pre-procedure admissions, including patient assessments and history-taking.

Administer moderate sedation during procedures and assess patient status to intervene as necessary in emergencies.

Manage post-procedure recovery for patients.

Proficient in telemonitoring and 3-lead EKG monitoring throughout the procedure.

Assist with outpatient urology procedures on designated Wednesdays, though this experience is not mandatory.

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)

Colonoscopy

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

Experience and Skills:

At least 2 years of experience in moderate sedation administration.

Telemonitoring proficiency and IV start experience are essential.

Experience with outpatient urology procedures is preferred but not required.

Additional Notes:

The unit conducts GI procedures four days per week, with no procedures on Wednesdays. Urology procedures take place three Wednesdays per month and Pain Management procedures are performed every Friday. Candidates with a strong GI skill set are encouraged to apply.
