Maintenance Manager

Hanes Companies, a division of Leggett & Platt, is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Manager to join our team in Winston Salem, NC. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a maintenance team, a strong engineering background, and a commitment to driving operational excellence. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations within the plant. This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems are functioning efficiently, and provides leadership to the maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Supervision: Lead, manage, and mentor the maintenance team, ensuring that team members are trained, motivated, and performing to the highest standards. Develop and implement work schedules, allocate tasks, and monitor job performance. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
• Maintenance Management: Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure all equipment and systems are operating at peak efficiency. Develop and manage a comprehensive equipment maintenance plan, minimizing downtime and extending asset life. Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment failures, making necessary repairs or initiating corrective actions.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Conduct safety audits and assessments, ensuring that all maintenance work is completed safely and in compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety standards. Lead investigations into accidents or incidents related to maintenance activities, taking corrective actions as necessary.
• Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including procurement of tools, parts, and supplies. Track expenses and performance metrics to ensure cost-effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance practices and operations. Implement new technologies, systems, and processes to improve maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment performance. Prepare and submit regular reports on maintenance activities, budget performance, and equipment condition.
• Project Management: Lead or support major maintenance projects, including equipment installations, upgrades, or facility expansions. Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers for special maintenance or repair projects.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Proven experience in managing maintenance teams, budgets, and large-scale projects.

Skills:

• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of industrial equipment, maintenance practices, and safety standards.
• Proficiency with maintenance management software (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights to improve maintenance operations.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise, dust, etc.).
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in confined spaces when necessary.

Work Schedule:

• Monday-Friday, 7 AM - 5 PM; on-call or weekend shifts may be required depending on operational needs.
