Title: Custodian

Qualifications: Knowledge and experience in cleaning building, stripping and waxing floors.

Reports To: Principal and Assistant Principal

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Cleans and checks assigned area daily.

2. Turns lights, heaters, and air conditioners on and off at the request and instruction of building principal to save energy.

3. Ensures restrooms are stocked with appropriate toiletries (tissue paper, paper towel, soap).

4. Mops restrooms on schedule.

5. Cleans door mats, entrance and exit on a regular schedule.

6. Checks campus, keep clean of paper and cans.

7. Sprays and buffs hall when needed.

8. Cares for supplies and equipment. Cleans after each use and stores properly.

9. Sweeps classrooms, gymnasium and other assigned areas daily.

10. Dusts mop corridors (halls) between class changes

11. Cleans water fountains daily.

12. Dusts window ledges.

13. Checks for spider webs.

14. Empties trash cans daily and clean.

15. Cleans office area (including rest rooms and teachers' lounge).

16. Signs in and out daily on time.

17. Dresses at all times and is neatly groomed.

18. Assists maintenance and support personnel when needed.

19. Cleans walkways and sidewalks in addition to assigned areas.

20. Assists in receiving and shipping of large orders.

21. Assists in packing and unpacking large quantities for distribution.

22. Organizes and reorganizes bookroom and storage room.

23. Shares work load when a fellow worker is absent and a substitute is on duty as assigned by principal.

24. Locks & unlocks building and gates as assigned by principal.

25. Cleans all glass.

26. Performs extra duty as assigned by principal during school hours.

27. Follows procedures in the Mississippi Public School Accountability Standards and other applicable federal, state, and district regulations.

Terms of Employment:

Ten, eleven, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation.

Additional duties may be assigned by Administrator/Supervisor/Director.
