Shipping and Receiving Associate

Summary/Objective:

The Shipping and Receiving Associate will be responsible to learn and conduct a variety of tasks/duties required to be performed in the department. These include but are not limited to preparing orders for shipment, completing all paperwork, obtain the rate quotes, and ensuring accuracy of the order to ship. Receiving in, storing, and distributing all deliveries, as well as stock and restock items in their proper locations as needed. Incumbent will pick customer orders per pick ticket and ensure the accuracy of selected items and quantities. Safety, organizational and housekeeping responsibilities are encompassed in the position.

Essential Functions:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Unload delivery trucks using a forklift, pallet jack, or other warehouse equipment.

• Receive in delivered product and label appropriately for easy retrieval.

• Distribute packages and mail to company recipients.

• Put away materials and components for storage and/or use.

• Prepare orders for shipment ensuring accuracy of the shipment and associated shipping documents.

• Operate and inspect material handling equipment in a safe manner.

• Will review inbound shipments and verify items and quantities before taking delivery, signing Bill of Ladings and receiving documentation. Will make notation of discrepancies and alert Office Administrator.

• Will review and verify items from production and place them in the proper stock location.

• Stock and restock items in their proper locations in the warehouses as needed.

• Load and unload trucks as instructed.

• Verify inventory counts and physical inventory as required.

• Move materials in and out of work areas and the warehouse as required.

• Alert management of out of stock or low stock levels as discovered.

• Identify and label boxes, packages, and products as instructed by the picking information, your manager or lead person.

• Maintaining your work area in a cleaned and organized fashion at all times.

• Report any inefficient or unsafe conditions to management upon discovery of the conditions.

• Complete all paperwork accurately as instructed by your manager and lead-person.

• Perform all work using safety equipment as instructed while obeying all safety-rules and procedures.

• Must be able to work overtime without notice involving critical shipments and as scheduled by management.

• Occasionally assist other classifications in areas of the plant and warehouses as needed.

• Fill out and turn into supervisor all paperwork and documents pertaining to shipping and receiving duties.

Non-Essential Functions:

·        Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience:

·       3-5years of previous experience in shipping and receiving responsibilities in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Qualifications – continued:

Education Required: 

·       High school or GED required

·       Some higher education preferred

·        

Skills/Competencies:

·        Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

·        Attention to detail and accuracy.

·        Previous experience in working under pressure and critical timelines.

·        Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·        Organizational and problem-solving skills.

·        Proficient use of computer and Microsoft suite – Excel, Word.

·        Self-starter and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

·        Forklift experience

·        Ability to follow through on complex and detailed repairs and assemblies.

·        Analytical skills

·        Inventory organizational experience

·        Strong work ethic

• None

Work Environment:

• Customer service counter and production environment in an industrial manufacturing setting.

Position Type/Expected Hours:

• 6:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. Monday – Thursday. Occasional coverage on Friday 6:00-10a.m.
• Classification: Non-exempt

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged periods of standing and working on various machinery and equipment.
• Working in a manufacturing environment while producing parts and assembling hoses
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at times.
