Overview

The Certified or Registered Medical Assistant plays a key role in keeping the practice running smoothly, providing both essential clinical support and administrative expertise. They partner closely with medical and nursing staff to guide patients through their visits, support examinations and treatments, and help create a seamless, patientcentered experience.

• Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health (AAH)
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Education requirement: High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and collecting chief complaint, family, social, surgical history, and completing medication reconciliation
• Conducting telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities
• Gathering and maintaining patient information via telephone per department policies
• Performing administrative tasks such as prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, benefits verification, and coordinating referrals/testing
• Completing office procedures per department competencies
• Performing procedures including breath tests, assisting with flexible sigmoidoscopy, HRA, rectal ultrasound, and glucose pointofcare testing
• Providing written instructions for procedures, medications, and followup per provider direction
• Retrieving and providing conditionspecific education from approved sources per provider orders
• Administering medications per provider order
• Assisting with prescription refills per department protocols
• Calling medications into pharmacies, notifying patients of refills, and documenting in the EMR
• Performing MRI screening per protocol
• Generating result notes
• Initiating and performing breath tests
• Administering vaccines and injections
• Providing patient instructions
• Completing prior authorization processes
• Preparing charts for visits and procedures
• Assisting with minor procedures such as flexible sigmoidoscopy, rectal ultrasound, and highresolution anoscopy
• Performing and maintaining competency in highlevel disinfection and sterilization processes

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $18.33per hour - $29.69per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
