Clinic RN - Occupational Health

Clinic RN - DSM Occupational Health Location: Des Moines, IA. Work schedule: 4 days per week, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with one day off per week. Full‑time position. Responsibilities Provide direct care to employees and personnel who become ill and/or are injured on company property as well as pre‑employment screening. Perform nursing assessments and assist provider with employment and surveillance examinations. Communicate effectively with peers for continuity of care; instruct patients for injury care; and collaborate with other personnel and safety. Assist provider and referral specialist with patient referrals; complete appropriate forms or requisitions required for referrals or laboratory testing. Assist in case management initiation and follow‑up. Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders. Function as a clinician, educator, and resource for patients within specialty of care and assist providers with office procedures. Draw and collect blood and other samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Conduct pulmonary function testing, drug testing, vision testing, hearing testing, immunization delivery, and spirometry testing. Properly use office and medical equipment such as computer, spirometer, audiometer, fax machine, multi‑stage copiers, and telephones. Practice reflecting knowledge of CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, DOT, and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding occupational medicine and healthcare. Maintain accurate and confidential employee medical records on computer and in written form as needed. Provide appropriate and timely documentation in the patient’s electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes. Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed expectations. Telephone triage by providing and documenting advice for home care of illness or condition; conduct follow‑up phone calls regarding patient’s health and progress as necessary. Collaborate with team to ensure adherence to multiple client protocols and services. Coordinate and schedule client services and screenings, and assist in assessing client requests in collaboration with leadership. Development and patient education includes attending meetings, reading emails, providing consultation internally and to outside agencies, performing duties requested by leaders, presenting educational classes for client companies, partnering with colleagues and leaders to assess and advocate for services expansion, and retaining current client base. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program for Registered Nurses. Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license in the state and in good standing. Current CPR certification. Certification in Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire. NIOSH approved spirometry training or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire. If performing client‑based services, chauffeur license required (to be obtained within 6 months of hire) and must meet fleet policy eligibility requirements. #J-18808-Ljbffr UnityPoint Health
