Job Description

The Technician Helper supports the installation of low voltage cabling systems on commercial and industrial job sites. This role focuses on pulling and running cable, assisting with installations, and handling general labor tasks while working closely with experienced technicians. Responsibilities

• Pull cable and run cabling through ceiling tiles and other building structures under the direction of senior technicians.

• Assist with the installation of low voltage cabling systems, including data, fire alarm, and other low-voltage applications.

• Use hand tools safely and effectively to support installation, fastening, and basic construction-related tasks.

• Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed throughout the workday.

• Organize, stage, and move materials on job sites to ensure work areas remain efficient and orderly.

• Support termination and testing of data cables and low voltage wiring as directed after proper training.

• Perform general labor tasks on commercial construction and industrial job sites, including cleanup and basic site preparation.

• Assist with basic machine operation or equipment use in a manufacturing or construction environment when required.

• Follow instructions from leads and project personnel to complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.

• Read and work from spreadsheets or basic documentation to track materials, tasks, or project details as needed.

• Comply with all safety procedures, including working only on non-energized systems and following site-specific safety rules.

• Remain flexible to work overtime when needed and travel to various job sites within approximately 50 miles of the greater Nashville area.

Essential Skills

• At least 1+ years of experience using hand tools in a work setting.

• At least 1+ years of experience in construction, wiring, cable pulling, manufacturing, or a similar hands-on environment.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.

• Comfort working on commercial construction and industrial job sites, as well as existing commercial buildings.

• Basic familiarity with low voltage, cable pulling, or wiring tasks, or a strong interest in learning these skills.

• Ability to read and use spreadsheets for basic work tracking or documentation.

• Reliable transportation and willingness to commute to multiple locations in the greater Nashville area, including Nashville, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Madison, and surrounding areas.

• Willingness and availability to work overtime when required by project needs.

• Motivated, entry-level mindset with a strong desire to learn a skilled trade and grow within the industry.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with low voltage cabling is a plus.

• Exposure to data cable installation, termination, and testing is beneficial.

• Experience in fire alarm, low voltage installation, or related systems is advantageous.

• Experience as a cable puller or in a manufacturing environment is helpful.

• Ability to assist with machine operation or construction-related equipment after training.

• Demonstrated eagerness to learn, take direction, and develop into more advanced roles over time.

• Openness to working across multiple project types, including hospitals, schools, data centers, banks, and office buildings.

Work Environment

This role is based on first shift, typically Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime required as project needs arise. Work takes place on a variety of job sites, including commercial construction sites, industrial facilities, and existing commercial buildings such as hospitals, schools, data centers, banks, and office buildings. All active work sites are vacant for these projects, and you will not work with live wire, contributing to a safer installation environment. You will report to the office on your first day and then travel directly to assigned job sites thereafter. The position requires consistent commuting within roughly 50 miles of the greater Nashville area, including locations such as Nashville, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Madison, and similar surrounding areas. The work is hands-on and physically active, involving regular use of hand tools and basic construction equipment in a professional field setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
