RN Cardiac Cath and EP Lab

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab Holding Area provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures. This role involves pre-procedure preparation, post-procedure recovery, and Phase I/II PACU-level care for patients with cardiac conditions such as coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, and heart failure. The nurse performs patient assessments, education, procedural support, hemodynamic monitoring, and moderate sedation recovery in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment focused on excellent patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures.
• Provide post-procedure recovery and Phase I/II PACU-level care.
• Perform patient assessments including hemodynamic monitoring and telemetry.
• Administer moderate sedation and monitor patient response.
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures and post-care instructions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage acute and non-acute clinical situations.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and procedural details.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• At least 2 years of recent experience in Cardiac Catheterization and EP Lab nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA).
• Experience with telemetry monitoring.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Recent experience in CVICU or cardiac care units.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system in the specialty area.
• Experience managing moderate sedation recovery.

Special Considerations:

• Work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary procedural environment.
• Must be able to work straight night shifts with occasional weekend coverage as needed.
• Ability to respond to acute clinical situations promptly.

Scheduling:

• 40 hours per week, scheduled as four 10-hour straight night shifts.
• Occasional weekend shifts required based on unit needs.
