School Aide in CDL Training

Rolling V Bus Corp offers a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) Training Program that lets you earn and learn by working as a School Bus Aide while training to become a licensed school bus driver. The program provides a structured pathway to higher earning potential and flexibility once you are licensed. Program Overview Program Structure Classes are scheduled every 8 weeks. The company provides classroom training for a CDL Permit and vehicle/behind-the-wheel training for the road test. Starting Hourly Rate During the aide role and training you earn $17.00 per hour for both work and training time. Training Schedule Training sessions (~2 hours midday) are planned to avoid conflict with aide hours. Post-License Pay After obtaining a CDL license, rates differ by vehicle size: Van – $17.00/hour (guaranteed 4.5 hours daily) Bus – $20.00/hour (guaranteed 4.5 hours daily) Additional hours are available through late runs, midday, or charter assignments. Job Responsibilities Main Objective – Transport children safely following a fixed daily schedule. Communication Skills – Engage cooperatively with parents/guardians, school officials, and coworkers. Job Requirements Application Process Complete job application and new hire packet, including all necessary NYS and federal documents and a background check. Identification Provide satisfactory forms of identification. References Provide three references and authorize the company to contact them. Residential History Provide a history of residential addresses. Background Checks Authorize a thorough background investigation in line with federal, state, school, and company policies. Pre-employment Testing Complete a physical and drug/alcohol screening administered by an independent entity at the company’s expense. Physical Performance Test Demonstrate ability to climb/descend bus steps, exit quickly from seated position, use rear emergency door for evacuation, and carry/drag a 125 lb weight. Training Initial paid six-hour pre‑service training. Ongoing skills training may be required for general or specific duties.
