Log Truck Driver

Job Duties

• Operates the log truck, using the boom box to load trees on the log truck or through the chipper.

• Keeps work area clean and orderly.

• Drives truck or operates other equipment as assigned.

• Services trucks and equipment. Keeps trucks and other assigned equipment in a neat and orderly fashion. Reports the need for repairs to truck and equipment to crew leader.

• Safeguard employees and public from hazards in and around the work area, staying in frequent voice communication with workers aloft.

• Helps enforce job safety practices.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required

• Previous experience preferred.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Minimum Experience Required

• Must possess a valid driver’s license, class A with air-brakes preferred.

• Must pass company-driving test.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification.

• Must be able to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.

• Must be able to hear verbal instructions from a distance.

• Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.

• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times.

• Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds at times.

• Bending/Squatting/Twisting: Required constantly when shoveling/raking different material.

• Pushing/pulling: Required constantly when raking, shoveling, or removing debris from job site.

• Lifting/carrying: Is required constantly when shoveling/raking materials, using a chain saw, picking up debris, and removing limbs or branches from a tree.

• Driving: Can be performed constantly depending on the job for the day. Includes driving a truck operating the log truck, or bobcat.

• Tools handled: Shovel, rake, and chain saw

• Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.

• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
