Caffe Vita Barista

Caffe Vita baristas are passionate about coffee and committed to preparing top-quality coffee drinks. This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to cooperate as a team member to maintain an organized and efficient caf. We are hiring a part-time Barista for our Bushwick and Lower East Side cafes. This position will require folks to be willing to work between locations. As more shifts become available, the part time position may become a full time position.

Compensation and Benefits

• New York $18.50/hr + Tips
• Tips typically average $10-$20 per hour depending on the location.

Responsibilities

• Prepare excellent coffee and espresso drinks.
• Demonstrate proficiency in milk texturing and latte art.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Engage and interface with customers.
• Maintain a calm working environment during high volume periods.
• Demonstrate punctuality.
• Explain and sell whole bean coffee, retail merchandise, brewing tools and accessories.
• Continually restock and face merchandise shelves.
• Perform open, close and side-work duties as defined by caf checklists.
• Multi-task and demonstrate initiative with routine tasks.
• Handle money with accuracy and accountability.
• Communicate clearly and directly with caf manager about any issues that arise.
• Seek opportunities for job training.
• Participate in Caffe Vita community events.
• Support change with confidence and courage.
• Cooperate as a member of a team to achieve all of the above.
• Schedule flexibility with the ability to work weekend days (Fri/Sat/Sun).
