POSITION SUMMARY: This position has responsibility for providing case management to refugee and immigrant families, including providing ongoing cultural adjustment support, orientations, referrals, and mediation services. The Immigrant Case Worker will work closely with community organizations, churches, landlords, and service providers to promote successful community integration. This position is based in Chicago and may require visits to clients primarily in northern Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure provision of timely and appropriate services to newly arriving refugee families during their first 90 days post-arrival in accordance with program guidelines. Service provision includes: Ensure that clients promptly receive health screenings, enroll in public aid benefits, receive necessary documentation, secure internet access, obtain clothing & household items, and are enrolled in English classes Conduct home visits and assessments with refugee families Provide initial and on-going orientations to life in the United States as well as assist in creating an initial budget pre- and post-employment Conduct additional screenings and follow-up evaluations for cases with minors traveling alone Coordinate interdepartmentally on resettlement details including furniture provision, basic needs and grocery provisioning, utilities connections, airport reception, and transportation. to legal services for adjustments of status, and referrals to various community resources. Conduct comprehensive assessments with clients, develop individual service plans, and facilitate connections to appropriate services. Ensure ongoing provision of timely and appropriate services to refugee and immigrant families to foster ongoing integration including referrals Provide education/orientation to clients around budgeting, paying housing and utility bills, and connect clients to financial resources when appropriate. Provide mediation services between clients and outside entities (i.e., neighbors, landlords, volunteers, service providers, etc.). Coordinate interdepartmentally to provide wrap-around services. Assist team in conducting workshops for educating clients and orienting them to life in the US. Maintain timely and accurate client files, case notes, and reporting records. Actively participate in department meetings, staff development opportunities, program trainings, community activities, and organizational events. Provide supervision and accountability for department interns. Collaborate with volunteers and Volunteer Services staff to support the work of volunteers engaging with clients to meet the goals of the client’s service plan. Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed, accurate records Strong mediation and problem-solving skills Direct-service experience with immigrant populations preferred Cross-cultural experience and/or knowledge of the refugee/immigrant experience Excellent communication skills with people of varying English levels Understanding of social service provision in Illinois and Chicago Comfortable working in a team environment Fluency in languages spoken by client populations preferred (Spanish, Rohingya, Burmese, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Swahili, or French) World Relief offers a competitive benefits package and employee discount program for full-time, Regular, employees.
