Description Design Studio Consultant — Brand New Design Studio (Wilmington / Leland area) Mitchell Homes | Belville, NC | Full-Time | $60,000 – $72,000 (base + monthly appointments bonus) Mitchell Homes has been building homes for more than 34 years, and we just opened a state-of-the-art Design Studio in Belville—a full selections showroom where buyers can see, touch, and compare every finish that goes into their home. We're hiring a Design Consultant to make that room work. This is the best part of the home-building process. Buyers arrive excited, and you turn a floor plan into their home — cabinets, countertops, flooring, tile, lighting, exterior elevations, the whole package. You'll guide them through it, help them spend confidently and within budget, and hand them a selections package our construction team can build from without a single question. What You'll Actually Do Run selections appointments with new-home buyers from start to signed package, typically over two to three sessions per family Present and explain the full standard and upgrade catalog — interior and exterior — and make real recommendations rather than just taking orders Help buyers balance their wish list against their budget, and show them where an upgrade dollar buys the most impact Produce accurate, complete selection sheets and change orders, and hand them cleanly to construction and purchasing Merchandise and maintain the studio — keep displays current, samples in stock, and the room looking like the reason we built it Meet with vendor reps to stay current on new products, and bring the good ones to us Partner with our sales team on buyer handoffs and keep selections on schedule so starts don't slip What We Offer Base salary plus a monthly bonus tied to the appointments you complete — your effort shows up in your paycheck A brand-new studio you'll have real ownership of, including how it's merchandised A stable, family-run builder with 34 years behind it — not a start-up, and not a national with a call center 401(k) with company match, health / dental / vision, HSA and FSA, life insurance, paid time off, paid training, and an employee discount on a Mitchell home Real growth — we're expanding in the Wilmington market and want someone who grows with the studio Schedule Full-time, in person at our Belville studio. Core hours are 9:00 to 6:00 weekdays. Because our buyers work, expect roughly two Saturdays a month and occasional evening appointments, scheduled in advance — not on-call. Requirements What We're Looking For Required 2+ years in interior design, new-home design studio / design center, kitchen and bath design, flooring or finishes sales, or a closely related field Comfort guiding customers through a high-dollar, emotional purchase — you can steer a decision without steamrolling it Strong eye for color, material, and how finishes work together across a whole home Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail — a selection sheet error becomes a real problem in a real house Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple buyers at different stages at the same time Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and able to learn our builder software quickly Reliable in-person attendance at our Belville studio, with availability for scheduled weekend and occasional evening appointments Valid driver's license Preferred — not required, but tell us if you have it Experience at a production or semi-custom homebuilder Familiarity with builder management software (MarkSystems, BuilderTrend, Sales Simplicity, or similar) Degree or certificate in interior design or a related field Working knowledge of CAD, SketchUp, Chief Architect, Canva, or comparable visualization tools Previous relationships with regional flooring, cabinet, countertop, or lighting vendors Prior experience merchandising or setting up a showroom or design center #J-18808-Ljbffr
