Groundskeeper

Job Description: Groundskeeper Responsibilities Site Cleaning & Inspection Clean and sanitize restroom and latrine facilities, picnic tables, BBQ grills, and replace paper products. Clean other facilities including sidewalks, boat/swimming docks, picnic shelters, storage structures, bulletin boards, interpretive displays, and other signs throughout Tongue River Reservoir and Rosebud Battlefield State Parks. Use manual cleaning equipment, chemical cleaners, sanitizing agents, stepladders, leaf blowers, and other tools to maintain cleanliness. Conduct daily inspections and report hazards, maintenance or repair needs. Perform minor repairs such as unclogging drains, installing toilet seats, and redirecting public use as needed. Minor Routine Maintenance & Groundskeeping Prepare surfaces for painting or staining, change light bulbs, clean gutters, downspouts, and other facilities using hand tools, wood scrapers, wire brushes, sanders, paintbrushes, and step ladders. Assist in maintaining fire rings and campsites by mowing, weed cutting, hand‑pulling weeds, irrigation, raking, shoveling, fertilizing, planting, and pruning. Use lawn mowers, weed trimmers, leaf blowers, and other equipment to keep vegetation safe and appropriate. Trash Collection Collect trash from facilities, area garbage cans, beaches, ground, trail areas, and adjacent highway right‑of‑ways. Transfer collected trash to bins for off‑site shipment. Public Assistance & Reporting Answer questions and provide information about park use, FASs, WMAs, and administrative facilities to public visitors. Follow procedures and contact authorities during emergencies or law enforcement situations. Collect information, document violations or accidents, and report using standard forms and local 911/EMS contacts. Records & Training Maintain detailed records of duties, equipment, supplies, and time worked, and submit them promptly. Participate in annual and scheduled training including Standard First Aid, CPR, and safety meetings. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment on all job duties. Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are typically attained through a high school diploma or equivalency.
