Paramedic

Emergency Department Paramedic

Support patient care in the Emergency Department under direct RN supervision. Responsibilities include triage monitoring medication administration procedures and documentation. Care may be provided to all age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer oral and IV medications (under medical direction)
• Assist with advanced life support and emergency procedures
• Perform 12-lead EKGs glucose tests blood draws and IV therapy
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and assist with defibrillation/cardioversion
• Provide oxygen therapy suctioning and wound care
• Collect and transport specimens
• Maintain emergency equipment and supplies
• Follow all patient safety and hospital protocols

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of UNMH Paramedic Medication Test within 6 months
• NM Paramedic License required
• ACLS PALS and BLS certifications required
• National Paramedic Certification preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish or Native languages) a plus
• No experience required 3+ years preferred

Physical & Work Conditions:

• Heavy physical demands (lifting 50-100 lbs)
• Exposure to biohazards chemicals and combative patients
• PPE required
• May work rotating shifts holidays weekends or on-call
