Salary: $100,000 - $110,000

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Piping Design Lead to bridge the gap between the field and the design office. This role is ideal for someone who understands commercial or industrial piping systems from hands-on experience and is ready to help lead the design of fabrication-ready piping systems.

You'll work closely with project managers, field teams, fabrication, and VDC professionals to develop accurate pipe layouts that improve constructability, reduce field labor, and support successful project execution.

If you've spent time in the field as a pipefitter, plumber, superintendent, foreman, or mechanical designer and have an interest in design leadership, we'd love to talk.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the design and coordination of commercial and industrial piping systems.
• Develop piping layouts using construction drawings, BIM models, and fabrication standards.
• Coordinate with fabrication, VDC, project management, and field operations to ensure designs are practical and installation-ready.
• Review plans and specifications to identify conflicts before construction begins.
• Create spool-friendly piping layouts that improve fabrication efficiency and field productivity.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to resolve design issues.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers and drafters.
• Participate in coordination meetings with internal teams and trade partners.
• Support value engineering efforts and constructability reviews.
• Ensure designs meet applicable codes, project specifications, and company quality standards.

What We're Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience in commercial or industrial piping systems.
• Background in mechanical construction, pipefitting, or welding
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes and field installation methods.
• Experience coordinating with field operations and fabrication shops.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Leadership experience or a desire to mentor junior designers is highly preferred.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with Navisworks, AutoCAD, Revit, or other BIM/VDC software.
• Previous experience leading piping design teams or coordinating complex mechanical projects.
• Experience with prefabrication and spool drawing workflows.
• Knowledge of commercial HVAC, hydronic, process piping, medical gas, or industrial mechanical systems.
