Key Responsibilities of the Med/Surg RN

• Apply nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care
• Assess patient/family needs and develop individualized care plans
• Promote and protect the health, safety, and rights of patients
• Motivate and educate patients/families for post-discharge care
• Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice
• Build trusting relationships and provide emotional support
• Administer medications and other interventions skillfully

Requirements of the Med/Surg RN

• Valid NYS RN Licensure
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS
• 2 years of med-surg experience required
