Water Plant Technician

Job Summary The Water Plant Technician is responsible for maintaining and operating the golf course's water management systems, including pumps, filtration equipment, and irrigation controls. This hands-on role involves daily monitoring, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure the effective and efficient distribution of water throughout the golf course and surrounding landscape areas. The Water Plant Technician plays a critical role in supporting the overall maintenance goals of the club. Reporting Structure • Reports to the Equipment Manager Day to Day

• Monitor and adjust irrigation schedules and programs to optimize water use across all turf and landscaped areas.
• Operate and maintain pumps, valves, filtration systems, and other water distribution equipment.
• Inspect and clean irrigation heads, pipes, and other components to ensure proper function.
• Assist in the repair and replacement of irrigation lines, valves, and sprinkler heads as needed.
• Perform regular inspections and routine maintenance on all water plant equipment, including pumps, filtration units, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with water distribution systems, such as leaks, clogs, or equipment malfunctions.
• Report significant maintenance needs or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of water usage, system maintenance, and repairs.
• Assist in applying water treatment chemicals, such as algaecides or chlorine, following established safety protocols and guidelines.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of all chemicals and materials used in water treatment.
• Follow all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with other maintenance duties on the golf course, such as mowing, landscaping, or general grounds keeping, as needed.
• Collaborate with other team members to complete daily tasks and support overall department goals.
• Participate as a team member in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

Additional Duties

• Due to the dynamic nature of the club, employees are expected to assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management.
• Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
• Follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and encouraging others to do the same.
• Take the initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications relevant to your role.
• Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams to support club operations.
• Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities to stay informed and contribute to the team's success.

About You Required • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Preferred

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in water plant operation, irrigation systems, or a related field.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, pumps, and water management equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Primarily outdoors with frequent exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures and humidity.
• Sitting, standing, walking, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs., talking, hearing, and seeing.

• Construction tools (shovels, axes, sledgehammers, etc.)
• Gardening tools (pruners, rakes, hedge shears, trimmers, etc.)
• Blowers
• Grass Mowers
• Tractors
• Cup Cutter

Work Schedule

• Attendance requirements for this position as outlined on the weekly schedule.
• Additional hours are required to meet deadlines of the position, including weekends and/or holidays.
